Stallion Reproductive Services

Our services are tailored to enable owners to utilize their stallion’s semen in both fresh, cooled, and frozen semen programs. Stallion services are available on an outpatient (trailer-in) or inpatient (boarded on-site) basis, with all charges settled pre-procedure.

Semen collection takes place in the veterinary barn using standard techniques. Following collection, semen is promptly evaluated and processed for fresh or cooled shipment. Evaluation includes assessing:

Gel-free volume
Sperm motility (total and progressive)
Sperm concentration

Post-processing, semen is prepared for on-site breeding or packaged into a shipping container and sent to the mare owner. The mare owner assumes responsibility for payment for semen collection and shipping. Semen can be shipped via FedEx or through commercial airlines (e.g., counter to counter).

Service Fees

Stallion Phantom Training

$600.00 *includes 5 training sessions. This package includes 5 training sessions with the stallion for collection using a phantom, along with the evaluation of ejaculate. Additional fees may be applied on a case-by-case basis, depending on the length of the training process. Stallions requiring more than five sessions may incur extra charges.

Semen Collection, Cooled

$350.00 per collection. This involves semen collection, assessment, and preparation for delayed insemination (i.e., AI more than 6 hours after collection). The semen will be picked up by a designated party at Bandalero for delivery to the person inseminating the desired mare(s), as per the mare owner's discretion. Payment before semen pickup is mandatory by the mare owner, and we strongly advise including this in your "Stallion Contract." Semen will not be released without payment, under any circumstances.

Semen Collection, Shipped Via Airlines

Varies (min.=$ 450.00/collection). This involves semen collection, evaluation, and preparation for shipping via Commercial Airlines to the desired location. Payment before shipping is mandatory by the mare owner, and we strongly advise including this in your “Stallion Contract.” Semen will not be dispatched without payment, under any circumstances.

Routine Freezing Semen

$600.00 per collection. This involves semen collection, evaluation, and freezing techniques utilizing a single type of freezing extender for the indefinite storage of semen in liquid nitrogen. Printed straws are ordered for each stallion at an additional expense.

Frozen Semen Storage Annual Fee

Semen Collection, Immediate Use

$250.00 per collection.This entails gathering semen, assessing, and readying it promptly for insemination as a "fresh dose." The mare owner must make payment before collection/insemination, and we strongly advise specifying this in your "Stallion Contract." Semen will not be dispatched under any circumstances if the services requested are "Immediate Use" or "Fresh Dose AI."

Semen Collection, Shipped via Fed-Ex

$350.00 per collection.* This involves semen collection, evaluation, and preparation for shipment via FedEx next day air to the desired location. Payment before shipping is mandatory by the mare owner, and we strongly recommend including this in your "Stallion Contract." Semen will not be dispatched without payment, under any circumstances.

Test Freezing Semen

$575.00 per collection. This process encompasses semen collection, evaluation, and freezing methods employing several types of freezing extenders to ascertain the optimal freezing technique for maximizing the potential quality of preserved sperm. A detailed report of the freezing extenders utilized, and their respective outcomes will be provided.

Frozen Semen Storage Monthly Fee

$25.00 A $25.00 monthly fee to store up to 250 of the ½ ml straws used for storing frozen semen.
